On April 24, a milestone event titled "Independent and Controllable, Surpassing and Leading—The 18,000-Hour Reliable Operation of China's First 300-Ton 'Weichai Heart' Mining Truck" was held in Jungar Banner, Ordos, Inner Mongolia. This represents a significant achievement of collaborative innovation between Shandong Heavy Industry Weichai Group and CHN Energy Zhunneng Group, marking a breakthrough from zero for China's independent and controllable large-scale mining truck powertrain in the 300-ton class.

Passing the 18,000-Hour Practical Test

Equipping China's Mining Equipment with a "Chinese Heart"

Energy security is a paramount national priority. Large-scale mining power systems have extremely high technological content and industrial barriers, and for a long time, the market share of domestic independent brands has been almost zero.

Facing this predicament, Weichai and CHN Energy Zhunneng Group, guided by national strategies, initiated the breakthrough for domestic large-scale mining power, ultimately achieving the hardcore result of an independent and controllable 300-ton mining engine.

Following a comprehensive, multi-dimensional special acceptance review, the expert panel unanimously concluded:

The 300-ton mining truck equipped with the Weichai 12M55, operating under heavy-load, high-intensity continuous working conditions in mines, has undergone 18,000 hours of continuous practical testing. Various performance indicators of the engine have reached advanced industry levels, fully satisfying the long-term, high-intensity operational requirements of large mining equipment. China's mining equipment finally has a "Chinese heart".

Core Systems Fully Independent and Controllable

Domestic Substitution Accelerating Industrial Upgrades

As the benchmark for domestic 300-ton mining truck powertrains, the core systems of the 12M55 engine are completely independent and controllable: the proprietary ECU electronic control system can be optimized and custom-calibrated at any time, and the ultra-high-pressure common rail closed-loop control system enables precise control of the fuel system.

Currently, Weichai's mining truck power products meet the needs of 100-ton to 400-ton mining trucks, perfectly adapting to various operational scenarios in large and ultra-large open-pit mines, and providing complete engine replacement solutions for a full range of vehicle models based on customer requirements.

Weichai has also established a lifecycle service system specifically for the mining sector to ensure efficient delivery and equipment operation. By setting up mining service bases and spare parts centers nearby, Weichai helps mining enterprises achieve a win-win situation of safety, controllability, and cost reduction through optimal warranty policies, sufficient spare parts reserves, comprehensive training, a flexible support system, and lifecycle guardianship.

During the event, guests visited the CHN Energy Zhunneng mining area to observe representative models of Weichai's high-end mining power products, including the 16M33, 12M55, and 16M55. Through the actual performance of two mining trucks in use, they directly experienced the stable performance of the "Weichai Heart" power.
