Shandong Heavy Industry Holds Press Conference at Its Global Partners’ Conference

On October 17, before the opening of the Shandong Heavy Industry · Weichai Power Global Partners’ Conference, Shandong Heavy Industry held a press conference to introduce the preparations for the conference and answered questions from reporters on new thoughts, new plans and new measures regarding the global industry development situation, international business, win-win cooperation in the industrial chain, and the new brand strategy. Wang Zhijian, deputy secretary of the Party committee and general manager of Shandong Heavy Industry, along with the executive team of affiliated enterprises and representatives of partners, attended the press conference.

Regarding the core competitiveness of the group, the group's revenue from January to September reached nearly 440 billion yuan, increasing by more than 9 percent year-on-year. The core strengths lie in its commitment to building product technology, quality and cost competitiveness through technological innovation, in its full industrial chain layout with high synergy of powertrain and vehicles, in its establishment of a global industrial layout that effectively combats market and economic fluctuations, and in the group's creation of a team culture that is passionate about work and always strives for the first place.

Regarding the globalization of Chinese manufacturing enterprises, China's equipment manufacturing industry has made rapid progress in the past two decades and has product competitiveness formed by a large number of independent innovations and independent patents. From core power, electric power and related systems to commercial vehicles and construction machinery, China has a competitive edge comparable to that of world-class enterprises. The brand building of "Hospitable Shandong, Quality Shandong" has created a favorable ecosystem for us to go global. Regarding Shandong Heavy Industry's export business, from January to September, Shandong Heavy Industry's export revenue was 72.7 billion yuan, an increase of 6% to 7% year-on-year, with an expected annual target of 100 billion yuan. Facing the complex and severe global situation ahead, Shandong Heavy Industry Group will seize the strategic opportunities in Southeast Asia, Africa, the Middle East and Latin America, deepen the international market and fully promote the in-depth localization of teams, management, manufacturing and research and development.

Ma Changhai, vice president of Shandong Heavy Industry and chairman and general manager of Weichai Group, answers questions from reporters of People's Daily and Phoenix TV.

Regarding the growth of the powertrain system business, Weichai Group's revenue in the first three quarters was nearly 250 billion yuan, up 6 percent year-on-year, mainly due to high growth rates of 400%, 122% and 30% respectively in data center power generation, new energy and engine export business, with huge potential for future development.

Regarding overseas business development, all of Weichai's overseas investment and acquisition enterprises have achieved profitability, the proportion of overseas business has reached 46%, and the transnational index has reached 40.93%. The key to the win-win strategy of Weichai and its overseas subsidiaries lies in the deep synergy of local investment and localization, and the vigorous promotion of the culture of "We are One".

Regarding the export business, Sinotruk exported 111,000 heavy-duty trucks from January to September this year, up 24.5% year-on-year, ranking first in China's heavy-duty truck exports for 21 consecutive years. Among them, in September alone, heavy-duty truck exports exceeded 15,000 units for the first time, once again setting a new record for China's heavy-duty truck industry exports. The cumulative sales of heavy-duty trucks at home and abroad reached 225,000 units, up 20 percent year-on-year, achieving the leading position in the global heavy-duty truck industry for the first time.

Regarding future growth expectations, thanks to its strong independent R&D capabilities, marketing and service networks, and intelligent manufacturing support capabilities, Sinotruk will continue to maintain its leading position in the export industry in the future, achieve simultaneous breakthroughs in quality and quantity in the high-end market, and ensure the completion of an export target of 150,000 units this year, further consolidating its leading position in the Chinese heavy truck industry.

Zhi Baojing, general manager of Shacman, answered questions from Securities Daily.

Regarding heavy-duty truck export business, Shacman ranks second in China's heavy-duty truck industry exports, and there is huge potential for growth in the global market in the future. In terms of expanding market share, first, deepen overseas industrial layout, accelerate local production overseas, and respond more accurately to customer demands. The second is to make a breakthrough in the high-end market, using new products as a starting point, through technological improvement, to break down commercial barriers and expand market space.

Regarding the development of the global industry, in the next 3 to 5 years, the global construction machinery industry will have a very large market opportunity thanks to the dual benefits of external factors such as infrastructure and energy and internal drivers such as industry intelligence and new energy transformation. Shantui will rely on the supporting capabilities of large group engines and high-end hydraulic components, as well as its industry-recognized advantages in chassis and structural components, and be led by the AI strategy to build a sustained leading position in products and strengthen and expand the international market.。

Regarding leading the upgrading of China's agricultural machinery industry, Weichai Lovol Intelligent Agriculture will benchmark against the world's best, make efforts in technological innovation, quality improvement and global layout, break through key technologies of high-end agricultural machinery and smart agriculture, enhance R&D, manufacturing and process levels, accelerate the local manufacturing layout along the Belt and Road, and further lead China's high-end agricultural machinery manufacturing to go global.
