2024.10.14On October 14, China Yangtze Shipping Group Co., Ltd. and Weichai Holding Group Co., Ltd. signed a cooperation agreement in Wuhan. Zhang Yi, Party Secretary and Chairman of Yangtze Shipping Group, and Ma Changhai, Party Secretary, Chairman, and General Manager of Weichai Group, attended the signing ceremony.
Yangtze Shipping Group and Weichai Group signed a cooperation agreement for the bulk supply of WH20 micro-pilot ignition LNG engines for clean energy vessels, marking a deepening of their collaboration on alternative energy products since the signing of their strategic cooperation agreement in 2021.
Zhang Yi stated that since the strategic cooperation between Yangtze Shipping Group and Weichai Group began in 2021, the two companies have achieved groundbreaking results in promoting the demonstration and application of micro-pilot ignition single-fuel LNG engines, making a significant leap from concept to implementation. This has greatly accelerated the upgrade and transformation of single-fuel engines used in China Yangtze Shipping vessels, driving an industry-wide shift. He expressed hope that both companies will further transform their collaboration model towards a full lifecycle service approach, establish a comprehensive strategic partnership, and join forces to promote the new energy revolution. By leveraging innovative productivity, they will lead the way in achieving high-quality development.
Ma Changhai emphasized that the partnership between Yangtze Shipping Group and Weichai Group is built on a foundation of deep trust. Weichai’s ongoing efforts in technological innovation and product upgrades have enabled the development of a full range of green, high-end marine power solutions, which are both efficient and reliable, contributing to environmental protection. He further stated that Weichai Group will continue to invest in maintaining its technological leadership in engine development, working with Yangtze Shipping Group to harness synergies across the industrial chain and jointly promote high-quality industry development.
Both parties also discussed the operational performance of Yangtze Shipping Group vessels equipped with Weichai's WH20 LNG micro-pilot ignition single-fuel engines. The WH20 engine, currently the only single-fuel gas engine recognized by CCS and installed in 10,000-ton vessels operating on the Yangtze River, has proven to be reliable through extensive sea trials, with a cumulative operating time exceeding 11,000 hours. Compared to traditional fuel engines, it offers more than a 20% reduction in fuel costs, contributing to significant energy savings.
